Any elected official can be put up for a recall after serving in their office for a minimum of 180 days.
01.
Initiate the Recall
File an application for recall, signed by at least 100 electors or 10 percent of the registered voters from the last election of the official, whichever is less.
02.
State the Grounds for Recall
The application must specify the grounds for recall, detailing how the official has adversely affected his/her office and public trust.
03.
Gather Required Signatures
Collect signatures from at least 30 percent of the active registered voters who were eligible to vote in the last election of the official to force a recall election.
04.
Hold the Recall Election
If the recall petition is verified, a recall election is held, where a simple majority decides if the official will be removed from office.
05.
Conduct Post-Election Procedures
If the recall succeeds, the office becomes vacant, and a special election is held within 55 days. The recalled official can run again in this election.
